i'm super new to the dc/marvel/etc universe so i personally like option b or c best. i have a rough knowledge of everything, but not a good grasp on cannon characters. or at least good enough of one to be comfortable playing one of them. i think you'd get more interest with either of those two options because if someone's personal favorite is taken they can always bring in an original OR make the child of their favorite.
